The wisdom of a Founding Father
There are many citizens of the United States of America who profess Christianity and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Father of the Constitution, James Madison, appreciated a core belief of that faith which is “All men are sinful and fall short of the glory of God.”
As such, based on this belief and his study of the history of governments, he stated that “If men were angels, no government would be necessary.”
Following these two ideas, he worked diligently to establish checks and balances in our government to protect us against the ramifications of man’s moral failings. Let us all advocate and work toward a restoration of the checks and balances which are a foundation of the Constitution and help to preserve and advance our republic.
