Fair Map initiative deserves support

I just read the article about the 9th District and saw the map. I agree with John Daley and Ray LaHood’s quest to approve the Fair Map initiative.

No wonder our state government is so screwed up. The map spans three counties with very different representation of voters. Start in the Northeast corner of the state and draw the maps as based on population plus or minus 10,000 citizens or whatever the population number is required. The districts should be almost be squares or rectangles. Split a county or township if need be.

Do away with the little indentations, nooks and crannies. A voter in Algonquin has different thoughts than a voter in Evanston, lets say. Let the voters choose the best person to represent them not the Republicans or Democrats.

I try to be an independent voter. Never a straight party.
