Pedestrian dead after being struck by SUV in Lincolnshire

An 81-year-old man is dead after being struck by an SUV Tuesday evening in Lincolnshire.

Authorities said the man was likely attempting to cross Milwaukee Avenue near Knightsbridge Parkway at about 5:15 p.m. when he was struck by Dodge Durango driven south on Milwaukee Avenue by a 58-year-old Prospect Heights man.

Police said the driver is cooperating with police and they don’t believe he was impaired.

Milwaukee Avenue was closed for several hours as investigators reconstructed the scene and collected evidence.

The victim was identified as Bijan Vaziri of Lincolnshire, according to the Lake County coroner’s office. Preliminary autopsy results indicate Vaziri died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
