Benefit concert at Durty Nellie’s to support Easterseals
Local music fans will have a chance to rock for a cause this fall as The Generations return to Durty Nellie’s on Saturday, Nov. 22, for a special benefit concert supporting Easterseals Autism Services.
The show marks the band’s return to the venue where they celebrated the release of their debut album, “Alternate View,” in 2024. The evening will include live performances by The Generations along with special guest artists, with proceeds benefiting Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford, a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals and families affected by autism through therapy, education, and care programs.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m., followed by The Generations’ performance at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are available through Durty Nellie’s website, durtynellies.com.
Founded in 2023 by Chicago musician and philanthropist Rob Stepen, The Generations blend nostalgic 1980s rock with modern influences and a passion for giving back.
“This concert is about more than music, it’s about connection, compassion, and community,” Stepen said. “We’re honored to continue supporting Easterseals and the incredible work they do for families throughout the region.”
For nearly 90 years, Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford has provided early intervention, therapy, education and family support for individuals of all abilities. Their mission is to help children and adults with autism and other developmental challenges build essential life skills, gain independence and thrive.
The benefit concert continues The Generations’ mission of giving back through music; uniting generations of fans under one roof for a night of rock, generosity and community spirit.
Stepen’s musical journey began in the 1980s Chicago rock scene, when he recorded two original tracks — “Have You Seen My Heart” and “Your Way” — that were lost for decades. Rediscovered in 2023, the tapes were restored by renowned audio engineers Steve Albini and Taylor Hales at Electrical Audio, mastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service, and pressed at Third Man Records in Detroit. The result was “Alternate View,” an album that captures the heart of 80s rock while infusing it with a contemporary sound. Stepen, who now performs exclusively for charity, has used his music to raise awareness and funds for causes including epilepsy research, mental health programs and autism services.
