Kane County’s primary races set for March
There will be contested primaries in March for Kane County sheriff, treasurer and several county board seats, after petition filing ended Monday.
But no other Republican is challenging longtime county clerk John “Jack” Cunningham for his party’s nomination for a seventh term.
Countywide seats
Republicans Rob Russell and Luis Santoyo are running for the nomination for sheriff. Chris Lauzen is seeking re-election as treasurer.
Democrats Brian Pollock and Brenda Rodgers filed for clerk. Salvador Rodriguez, Amy Johnson and Andrew Schwab filed for sheriff. Penny Wegman, Scott Johansen and Connie Cain are seeking the nomination for treasurer.
County board seats
Incumbent Democrat Myrna Molina filed for District 1. No Republicans are running.
Democrats Kimberly Young, Ellen Nottke, Martha Davidson and Matthew Dingeldein filed for a two-year term in District 2 to fill the vacancy left by Dale Berman’s death. No Republicans are running.
Democratic incumbent Anita Lewis and Danny Perez filed for District 3. No Republicans are running.
Republican incumbent Bill Lenert and Democrat Philip Silagi filed for District 5.
Incumbent Democrat Alex Arroyo filed for District 7. No Republicans filed.
Republicans Jeffrey Magnussen and Jennifer Abbatacola, and Democrat Mark Guttke, filed for District 9.
Democrats Julie Forbes and incumbent Leslie Juby filed for District 11. No Republicans filed.
In District 13, Republicans Ryan Deniz and Anthony Catella and Democratic incumbent Michael Linder and Nicolas Jiminez have filed.
Democrat Kate Monteleone and Republican incumbent David Young filed in District 15.
In District 17, Democrats Deborah Allan, the incumbent, and Deborah Willis filed. No Republicans are running.
For District 19, incumbent Democrat Mohammad Iqbal and Republican Steve Serafin filed.
In District 21, Democrat Deborah Chabi and Republican incumbent Cliff Surges filed.
And in District 23, incumbent Democrat Christopher Kious and Republican Emmanuel Thomas filed.
