Sheriff: Lake County teens face gun charges
A Lake County teen is accused of recklessly firing a gun in an unincorporated area near Grayslake, authorities said Saturday.
Sir Mark Hill, 18, has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and four counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm.
His friend, Jabreon Bell, 19, also has been charged with four counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm.
At about 3:45 a.m. Saturday, county sheriff’s deputies responded to 911 calls in the 18400 block of West Meander Drive for a report of shots fired. Sheriff’s deputies found bullet holes in a vehicle and two nearby homes.
Deputies found Bell and Hill in the area, according to a sheriff’s office news release. The teens initially claimed they had been shot at by occupants of a vehicle that drove by.
Sheriff’s deputies located video surveillance in the area and determined both Bell and Hill were armed with guns, authorities said in the release. The video showed Hill firing several rounds toward the southeast of his location, the release stated.
Bell and Hill were arrested. Sheriff’s detectives searched Bell’s home, where they recovered two loaded pistols, one of which had an extended magazine, according to the release.
There were no reported injuries.
Both are due in court Sunday.
