Truck weights are real safety issue

Excellent article on Oct. 17 by Keeshan and Sarkausas about raising the weight limit on semi -trucks.

I applaud Casstevens, former Buffalo Grove and Cary police chief, for raising the alarm. Semis are already too big and long, and it has been in the last couple of years that I noticed it. It’s like the trucking companies’ lobbyists offer elected officials in D.C. money, and then they get what they want. No concern is shown for safety on the roads.

I am for the International Association of Chiefs of Police, National Sheriffs Association, the AAA and other groups opposing lifting the weight limits. I think this is a real safety issue.
