Man arrested after road rage stabbing in Mundelein
Mundelein police say road rage led to one man being stabbed and a second man arrested Wednesday evening.
Police officials said the 57-year-old victim was stabbed in the chest multiple times and eventually transported to a hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries. He is expected to survive.
The attack occurred just before 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Route 176 and Joice Lane, police said.
The victim was able to give investigators a description of his attacker and the vehicle involved.
59-year-old Mundelein resident Edward Nieves was identified as the suspect in the attack and arrested at his home without incident, police said.
He is charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon.
Police officials said witnesses are still being interviewed about what precipitated the stabbing.
