Navigate your health coverage: DuPage County Health Department offers enrollment assistance

Open Enrollment for 2026 Marketplace health coverage through Get Covered Illinois begins Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025. This is the time of year to explore your eligibility for health insurance benefits and find the coverage that is best for you and your family.

New for 2026: Illinois is launching its own state-based health insurance marketplace. You can now apply for financial help and enroll in 2026 coverage through Get Covered Illinois — the official state platform to compare health plans, enroll in coverage, and access financial assistance.

Customers can still use HealthCare.gov for 2025 coverage, but all 2026 enrollments must go through the new state-based marketplace.

If you do not have insurance through an employer, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or a source providing qualifying health insurance, you have from Nov. 1, 2025, through Jan. 15, 2026, to enroll in a Marketplace health insurance plan.

Enrollments or renewals must be completed by Dec. 15, 2025, for coverage to start on Jan. 1, 2026.

Anyone who enrolled in insurance through the Marketplace in the past would benefit from reviewing and renewing their current health insurance plan during Open Enrollment. Assisters can help clients open their new Get Covered Illinois accounts and review the new health insurance options. The enhanced premium tax credit assistance available last year may not be available for plan year 2026.

The DuPage County Health Department has certified assisters throughout the county, available to provide information and help residents enroll in health coverage. Residents in need of assistance can call (630) 682-7400 and ask for a benefiting appointment.

Appointments are available for those new to the Marketplace and for those who are renewing. Enrollment appointments for new clients are 90 minutes, and renewal appointments are 60 minutes. To learn more, visit dupagehealth.org/healthinsurance or getcovered.illinois.gov.
