Kane County helps residents gear up for winter

As temperatures drop and winter weather approaches, the Kane County Health Department invites residents to a Winter Preparedness Workshop designed to help families get ready for the season. The free, public event will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, via Zoom.

The workshop will cover essential tips for staying healthy, safe, and prepared throughout the winter months, including:

• Building a winter-ready emergency kit for your home and vehicle

• Staying safe during power outages and extreme cold

• Preparing your car for winter travel and emergencies

• Protecting your family, pets, and neighbors during severe weather

• Finding trusted local resources when you need help

“Winter weather can create challenges for everyone, especially older adults, families with young children, and those with limited resources,” said Michael Isaacson, executive director of the Kane County Health Department.

“Preparedness starts at home, and this workshop gives residents practical tools to protect their health and stay safe all season long.”

Those who register will also receive a Winter Preparedness Checklist and an Emergency Supply Kit Checklist.
