Krishnamoorthi highlights constituent services being provided amid government shutdown
Democratic Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi of Schaumburg held a news conference at the Itasca Fire Department Tuesday to speak with others about the work his office has continued to complete amid this month’s government shutdown.
Krishnamoorthi was joined by Hanover Park Village President Rod Craig and other local leaders and constituents to address the ongoing work or completion of local needs.
The venue was chosen in recognition of the $2.5 million in federal funding Krishnamoorthi secured for a new Itasca fire station opening in December.
“Even during a shutdown, our office never stops working for the people of Illinois,” said Krishnamoorthi said. “Every case we take on — whether it’s helping a veteran access benefits, resolving a Social Security delay, or securing funding for local fire departments — reflects our team’s commitment to delivering results for the families and communities we serve.”
Other resolved cases — of which there have been 115 since the shutdown began — included Social Security and passport complications, assistance with visa approvals for family reunification and recovery of funds from federal agencies.
Another 580 such cases are pending for 8th District residents, he added.
