Pray for those seeking retribution
America was, is and always will be great because of the people who make it that way. Hey, we even have a president who sells Bibles. But you know, I’m curious. Maybe he would like to share with us and all his staff his favorite quote from the New Testament and the words of Jesus Christ.
Could it be “Do not repay anyone evil for evil … If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink.”? Or maybe it’s “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.” Or simply “Love one another, as I have loved you.” There are so many good ones. Check out “Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.” And “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
I could go on and on, but you get the idea. It would seem that the talking points of this Administration are Immigration and Retribution. That appears to be antithetical to the teaching, “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” … “Whatever you do to the least of these you do to me.”
For those of you, of any faith, who have read this far, I hope you will pray for a change of heart for those who seek retribution for perceived offenses.
I wish you love, peace and joy today and for the days to come.
