Pair killed in deadly I-88 crash identified

Authorities on Tuesday identified a pair of Chicago residents as the people killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night on Interstate 88 near North Aurora.

Diego Nava Torres, 32, and Samantha Ortiz, 33, died as a result of multiple injuries suffered in the collision, according to the Kane County coroner’s office.

Illinois State Police said the crash occurred about 8:10 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-88 near Mitchell Road in Kane County. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the coroner’s office and state police, authorities said.
