Suspect charged in hit-and-run near Huntley that injured skateboarder
A 35-year-old McHenry County man faces felony charges stemming from a hit-and-run crash near Huntley that left a teenage skateboarder seriously injured, authorities said Wednesday.
Issac D. Keating of Marengo is charged with failure to report an accident involving personal injury, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and failure to provide aid, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
Keating was being held in the McHenry County jail Wednesday pending a detention hearing, jail records show. He faces a maximum three to seven years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge.
According to the sheriff’s office, an 18-year-old Marengo man was riding a skateboard west along eastbound lane of the 14900 block of Harmony Road when he was hit by a dark-colored SUV at about 6:44 p.m. Saturday.
The SUV fled the scene after the collision, officials said.
The teen was airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital — Riverside in Rockford, where he was listed in serious condition, the sheriff’s office reported.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit later identified the suspect vehicle as a 2019 Toyota Highlander, which led Keating’s arrest, officials said.
The crash remains under investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.
