Hawkiosaurus? United recognizes Blackhawks’ centennial with dino-sized tribute at O’Hare

Historically, ice and dinosaurs don’t mix.

But there’s a notable exception at O’Hare International Airport where a popular Brachiosaurus skeleton replica is now suited up in a Chicago Blackhawks jersey.

Located in Terminal 1, United Airlines’ hub, the 75-foot-long skeleton offers a tribute to the team’s centennial, a United spokesperson said.

In addition to the gargantuan jersey, the airline is giving its B and C gate signs a Blackhawks-themed makeover.

“Both the Blackhawks jersey on the dinosaur and the gate signage across Terminal 1 will remain on display through the 2025-2026 season, giving travelers a reason to stop and snap a photo while flying from O'Hare,” United officials said.

“United Airlines has been the official airline of the Chicago Blackhawks for more than 30 years, making it easier for thousands of fans to cheer on the team on the road every year.”

The National Hockey League granted a franchise to the Blackhawks on May 15, 1926, and the team is celebrating its centennial throughout the 2025-2026 season.

The Brachiosaurus replica is from the Field Museum and consists of plastic bones and a metal structure.
