Bulls forward Collins sidelined by broken wrist

Bulls forward Zach Collins will be sidelined at least four weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist, the team announced.

The injury happened during a fall in the fourth quarter of Thursday's preseason finale against Minnesota. Collins went to the locker room shortly after it happened.

The 6-foot-9 Collins played well in preseason, averaging 11.6 points, and figured to be part of the rotation when the Bulls open the regular season against Detroit on Wednesday at the United Center.

The Bulls are far from full strength heading into the opener. Coby White didn't play in preseason due to a calf strain. He participated in a full-contact practice for the first time Saturday and coach Billy Donovan said White is on track to play against the Pistons, but it will be a process to get back into basketball shape.

The best news of preseason were strong performances by second-year forward Matas Buzelis (17.6 points) and guard Ayo Dosunmu (15.3 points).

On Friday, the Bulls released two-way guard Yuki Kawamura due to an injury issue and signed Trentyn Flowers, a 6-9 forward. Flowers is a Georgia native who passed on college to play in the Australian pro league. He spent last year as a two-way player for the Clippers.
