Man gets 15 years in prison for having child pornography

A South Elgin man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for possessing child pornography.

Victor D. Perez, 25, of the 900 block of Spring Street, pleaded guilty Oct. 9.

Kane County prosecutor Matthew Rodgers told the judge that on May 16, 2024, investigators with the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit searched Perez and found a phone that contained child sexual abuse material.

Perez had disseminated such material to another user on the Snapchat app.

He must serve at least 50% of his sentence before being eligible for parole. Perez received credit for the more than 20 months he has been held in the Kane County jail.
