The Lord Chamberlain’s Men brings its ‘Twelfth Night’ tour to Elgin on Oct. 24

Join The Lord Chamberlain’s Men, an all-male theater company from the U.K., in a production of William Shakespeare’s greatest romantic comedy, “Twelfth Night.”

The troupe is coming to Elgin Community College Arts Center on Friday, Oct. 24 as the fourth stop on their first U.S. tour which begins with two shows in Iowa, followed by Joplin, Missouri. After Elgin, they will be heading Minnesota for two shows. This year, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men also took “Twelfth Night” on the road in Europe for a 16-week tour at 66 venues across the continent.

The romantic comedy is full of mistaken identities, love triangles, and witty wordplay. When shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as a man, chaos and hilarity unfold as she navigates love, loyalty, and deception in the court of Duke Orsino.

In their 21st year, The Lord Chamberlain’s Men (named after Shakespeare’s original touring company) stands as the UK’s leading all-male theater company, bringing Shakespeare’s plays to life just as he first experienced them — performed by an all-male cast in authentic Elizabethan costume, infused with music, song, and spirited dance.

The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. at Blizzard Theater, 1700 Spartan Drive, Building H, in Elgin.

Tickets are $35, and children 12 and under are free with the purchase of a regular ticket.
