Exploring faith through saints at Aurora’s Wesley UMC

On Sunday, Oct. 18, the Rev Tammy Scott continues her sermon series, “Exploring Stewardship with the Saints,” with this week's theme, “Francis of Assisi: The Way of Poverty,” based on Mark 10:17-31, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May St. in Aurora.

Francis (1181-1226) gave up wealth and comfort to embrace simplicity, showing us that true riches are found in following Jesus with open hands and generous hearts.

Pastor Scott's series concludes Sunday, Oct. 26, with “Mary McLeod Bethune: The Way of Authority,” based on James 2:1-9. An educator and civil rights leader, Bethune (1875-1955) used her influence and authority to lift up others. She challenges us to see leadership and power as gifts to be stewarded for justice and inclusion.

Also on Oct. 26, Staff Appreciation Sunday will be celebrated following worship.

Sunday worship is online at 9:30 a.m. online and at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. A fellowship hour follows worship.
