District 62 to host virtual screen time strategies workshop featuring Jackie Rhew

Community Consolidated School District 62 will welcome the co-founder of the Center for Emotional Wellness of the Northwest Suburbs Jacqueline Rhew for a virtual presentation at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27.

The presentation will also be available in Spanish with Steve Knope facilitating.

Rhew’s background is extensive and includes such areas as school refusal, eating disorders, self-injury, substance abuse, gaming addictions, grief issues, trauma, depression and anxiety. Rhew is an expert in her field and is called upon by hundreds of school districts, family agencies and mental health facilities — locally and nationally — for consulting staff in order to better serve their youth.

During this workshop, parents will learn how technology affects children’s mood, sleep and focus and how their own habits play a role. They will learn practical tips to set healthy limits, spot red flags and support balanced screen use at home.

This event is open to all District 62 families.

Sessions will be available in English and Spanish.
