Buffalo Grove village president touts residential, commercial successes
Buffalo Grove village President Eric Smith painted a bright picture of development in his recent state of the village address.
Speaking before a gathering at 25N Coworking in Buffalo Grove last week, Smith pointed to positive developments at The Clove mixed-use development near Lake-Cook and McHenry roads.
Smith said The 250 Residences, the residential component of the development, are 50% occupied, about seven months ahead of schedule.
He announced a nationwide coffee chain has signed a letter of intent to occupy the former Burger King space.
Smith urged patience with progress at The Clove, saying three years is not a lot of time.
“It takes a lot of time for these projects to get complete,” he said.
Moving to the Dundee Road corridor, he pointed to the new Tesla dealership and upcoming residential and commercial development slated to surround it. He also noted the redevelopment of Strathmore Square under a new owner and pointed to recent additions to the business landscape as Belle Tire and the Blackfish Rotary Sushi and Bar.
Smith spoke about upcoming residential developments, mentioning four new housing proposals the planning and zoning commission will be hearing in the next several months. They include 223 luxury apartments near the Tesla dealership.
“People want to come here, and it’s a hot market,” he said.
