Art of the Land show and fundraiser returns to McHenry County
The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is hosting the 17th annual Art of the Land art show and fundraiser from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 25, at the historic Starline Factory, 300 W. Front St., Harvard.
Art of the Land is a showcase of artwork that features the beauty of the McHenry County landscape. The show includes art for sale from more than 50 local artists, artisan items for purchase, a youth art display, poetry by the Woodstock-based poetry collective Atrocious Poets on Friday, raffle, live music, appetizers (included in ticket price) and cash bar.
There will be pottery demonstrations both nights by The Clayworkers’ Guild of Illinois, and there will be 10-minute tarot card readings by Janet Balboa. The band Cheryl and the Down Home Boys will perform Friday night and Donna Brooks and Ironwood will perform on Saturday.
Artisan offerings will include handmade jewelry, ceramics, felted animals, fused glass, apothecary items, hand-appliqued pillows and more.
In addition to the fine art show, the event features a display of photos taken by amateur photographers at many of the properties TLC has preserved. Guests will have the opportunity to vote on a People’s Choice photograph each night.
Art of the Land is TLC’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and 30% of art sales from the event supports land preservation in McHenry County.
Advance tickets are $15 per night and tickets can be purchased at ArtoftheLand.org. Tickets will be $20 per night at the door.
The Land Conservancy of McHenry County is a member-based private nonprofit dedicated to preserving natural, scenic and agricultural land.
