Two St. Charles athletes selected for USA Swimming’s Select Camp
St. Charles Swim Team’s Thea Bike and Thomas McMillan were selected to participate in USA Swimming’s 2025 National Select Camp.
The camp features up-and-coming swimmers throughout the country and will provide exclusive training and educational opportunities for all athletes in attendance. Invited athletes will gather at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Oct. 9-12, 2025 (boys) and Oct. 23-26, 2025 (girls).
Numerous National Team athletes and Olympians have previously attended the National Select Camps, including Katie Ledecky, Bobby Finke, Lilly King, Michael Andrew, Hali Flickinger, and Kieran Smith.
“We are extremely proud to have Thea and Thomas representing the St. Charles Swim Team at the 2025 National Select Camp,” said Head Senior Coach Joe Myhre “This honor reflects the hard work they put into training and is the next step toward their life-long dream of representing the United States at international competitions.”
Thomas represented Team USA this summer at the World Junior Championships in Romania and is focused on representing Team USA again.
During the three-day camp, 52 girls and 52 boys will experience the day-today-routine of a National Team athlete. The athletes will learn about post-race recovery, drug and supplement rules, psychological training skills, USA Swimming Safe Sport, nutrition, race strategy, and other relevant topics.
The St. Charles Swim Team is one of 15 USA Swimming Clubs to send two or more athletes to the National Select Camp. SwimMAC Carolina ranks highest among individual clubs, with a total of six athletes, followed by Long Island Aquatic Club with three. There are 13 additional clubs who have two qualified athletes:

• SwimMAC (6 athletes) — NC
• TAC Titans (2) — NC
Athletes were selected for the camps based on the following criteria:
1. The top three athletes in each event, based on Long Course Meters (LCM) competition ranking from Jan. 1, 2025 — August 31, 2025.
2. The six female and six male athletes with the highest individual Long Course Meters IMX Power Point scores between Jan. 1, 2025 — August 31, 2025.
3. The top two open water athletes in the 5K and 7.5K from the 2025 USA Swimming Open Water Junior Nationals.

The Saint Charles Swim Team is offered as a program of St. Charles Aquatics to the residents of the Greater St. Charles Area who want their children to participate in a competitive swim program. SCST, offers a guided age-group youth program for children ages 5 to 14 and a senior program for swimmers 14 and up, that concentrate on the advancement of these athletes.
