Lake County sheriff’s deputy, two others injured in Ingleside crash

Alcohol may have played a role in a three-vehicle crash that left a Lake County sheriff’s deputy and two others injured Saturday afternoon in Ingleside, authorities said.

The deputy was driving a Ford Police Interceptor westbound on Route 134 approaching Main Street at approximately 3:25 p.m. when a BMW X4 pulled in front of the patrol vehicle while attempting a U-turn, sheriff’s police said.

The front of the BMW struck the front of the deputy’s vehicle, which then collided with a Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped on Main Street, officials said.

The deputy suffered was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released.

The driver of the BMW, a 45-year-old Roselle man, and his front seat passenger, a 36-year-old Round Lake Park man, also suffered nonlife-threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital. The 23-year-old Round Lake man driving the Chevrolet was uninjured.

Open containers of alcohol were located in the BMW and impairment appears to be a factor, according to the sheriff’s office.

The crash remains under investigation by the Round Lake Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
