Lake Zurich, Stevenson, Warren, Prospect, Antioch triumph

As the season streaks on by, area teams have put their own stamp on the direction they are headed in the final three weeks of the season. Lake Zurich, Stevenson, Warren, Prospect and Antioch each extended winning streaks. Palatine and Vernon Hills got back on the victory side.

Lake Zurich 31, Zion-Benton 0:

Lake Zurich (5-1, 4-0) won its fifth in a row. The Bears limited Zion-Benton to just 88 yards of offense while forcing four turnovers. Chris Chang picked off two passes for Lake Zurich and returned one for a touchdown. Kaden Abrantes (18 carries, 127 yards) had touchdown runs of 17 and 15 yards. Evan Peterson hauled in a 22-yard touchdown pass from Reid Pfeifer, and Tyler Vuckovic booted a 30-yard field goal.

Warren 58, Mundelein 13:

Warren (5-1, 4-0) got another huge night from Aaron Stewart. The Illinois-commit rushed for 363 yards on 18 carries and had 7 touchdowns as Warren won its fourth straight. Reed Dangel also had a nice night throwing for 115 yards on 9-of-13 passing. Mundelein (1-5, 0-4) lost its fourth in a row.

Stevenson 24, Lake Forest 7:

Stevenson (5-1, 4-0) won its fifth straight as the Patriots stayed tied atop the North Suburban Conference. Aidan Crawley ran for 62 yards and two touchdowns and Aiden Elliott ran for 55 yards and another touchdown. Caden An booted a school-record 52-yard field goal. Caden Schultz had 3 tackles, two which were for loss. D’Angelo Washington had 6 tackles, including a sack.

Prospect 70, Wheeling 19:

Prospect (5-1, 2-0) just had too much for Wheeling. The Knights raced to a 28-0 lead and rolled. Jackson Cacini threw for two touchdowns for the Knights. Matthew Donnelly rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Nate Cichy, Gordy Kemp and Jacob Sutton each had touchdown catches. Henry Koziol had two kickoff returns for touchdowns. Max Hargadon blocked a punt and recovered in the end zone for another touchdown. Christian Campos (12 carries, 94 yards) had an 80-yard touchdown run for Wheeling (1-5, 0-2). Anthony Alvarado and Michael Krakowski each had touchdowns runs for the Wildcats.

Antioch 62, North Chicago 12:

Antioch (5-1, 4-0) won its fourth in a row as the Sequoits rolled. Collin Arquilla threw two touchdowns passes. Bryce Evans caught a touchdown pass and raced 45 yards for another, while Jack Hulting caught a 55-yarder. Logan Lennon scored on a pair of touchdown runs while Jack Bucar and Marcus Macias also had a rushing touchdown.

Palatine 49, Schaumburg 14:

Palatine (3-3, 1-1) broke its three-game losing streak. The Pirates built a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter. Xavier Tudela and Ray Black each ran for touchdowns for the Saxons (3-3, 0-2)

Vernon Hills 42, Maine East 0:

Vernon Hills (2-4, 1-1) broke a four-game losing streak by running all over Maine East (0-6, 0-2). The Cougars banged out 409 yard on the ground. Jack Gutkowski led the way with 149 yards on five carries with two touchdowns. Colin McMurray rushed for 104 yards on 10 carries with three touchdowns, while Jaylon Landers had 103 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown.

Lakes 49, Round Lake 0:

Lakes (4-2, 3-1) bounced back from a tough loss to Antioch last week. Ean Ankney threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for another. Ankney tossed scoring passes to Trent Miller and Mason Gialo. Mason Crowley ran for two touchdowns, while Nate Velez and Ethan Gialo also had scoring runs. Anthony Perna and Porter Crammond each had an interception. Connor Vinson and Dillan Davis each had a sack.

Libertyville 48: Waukegan 6:

Libertyville (3-3, 2-2) got back to even as the Wildcats had an easy time with Waukegan (0-6, 0-4).

DePaul Prep 36, St. Viator 7:

St. Viator (1-5, 0-2) lost its fifth straight to the defending Class 4A champion Rams (2-4, 1-1). DePaul built a 36-0 lead before Joey Lampignano scored for the Lions in the fourth quarter.

Addison Trail 46, Leyden 6:

Leyden (2-4, 1-3) struggled in the West Suburban Gold game.

Highland Park 41, Maine West 0:

Two-time defending CSL North champion Maine West (2-4, 1-1) took a step back in its quest for a three-peat Saturday against the Giants (4-2, 2-0).
