Find your new best buddy at ‘The Road Home’ adoption event Saturday in Elgin

The road home for hundreds of adoptable puppies, dogs and kittens will run through Elgin Saturday.

The fifth annual “The Road Home” mega-adoption, a partnership between Brilliance Subaru of Elgin and Anderson Humane, takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1500 N. Randall Road.

The partnership will celebrate its 1,000th adoption together Saturday. To mark the milestone, Subaru will donate a 2023 Ford Transit 250 to Anderson Humane, which Anderson says will expand their capacity to safely transport thousands of dogs and cats each year.

Anderson Humane CEO Dean Daubert expressed in a news release how much he appreciated the partnership with Brilliance Subaru and that the donation “couldn’t come at a better time.”

“They truly walk the talk, hosting adoption events, volunteering, helping with transports, and consistently stepping up for the animals,” he said. “Our old van was becoming risky to use for long-distance rescues, and this gift ensures we can continue saving lives well into the future.”

Adoption fees for the event will be discounted for the day, with 50% off for adult dogs, 25% off for puppies under six months and 25% off for kittens. If you adopt two kittens, one fee will be waived.
