Four women honored for leadership at Barrington area event

Nearly 100 community business owners and leaders gathered at Biltmore Country Club in North Barrington recently for the eighth annual Outstanding Women Leaders Awards Luncheon.

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce's Women's Biz Net hosted the Sept. 25 event, recognizing four women for their leadership and impact.

“This event is a true testament to the incredible women in our community,” said chamber President and CEO Suzanne Corr. “Each honoree's journey is an inspiration to all of us, and it was a privilege to hear their stories firsthand.”

Dr. Agnieszka “Aggie” Iwaszczyszyn, owner of Hart Dental, received the OWL Award for Professional Excellence. Since opening her Barrington practice in 2018, serving the Barrington area and the local Polish community, she has doubled her space and expanded services while volunteering as a dentist with Willow Creek Community Church and serving needy families through the Chicago Dental Society Foundation.

Ellaine Sambo-Reyther, managing director of BMO Wealth Management, received the OWL Award for Community Impact. She has served on numerous boards, including WINGS, Barrington Area Community Foundation, JourneyCare, the Barrington 220 Educational Foundation, the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce and the Community Foundation for McHenry County, consistently living by her motto: “Go out there and do good, make a difference!”

Kimberly Saunders, executive director of the Barrington Area Council of Governments since 2021, earned the OWL Award for Nonprofit Leadership. She manages groundwater testing programs and organizes emergency management programs. She was instrumental in implementing BACOG's Local Government Education Initiative with Barrington Area Unit District 220.

Jennifer Lucas, leader of Go Green Barrington, received the OWL Award for Mentorship and Education. She is dedicated to educating and inspiring communities about environmental sustainability, hosting the “Green Drinks” program and is often seen wearing outfits made from plastic bags to promote reducing plastic waste.
