Boys soccer: Freshman Tabaczynski tallies twice in Schaumburg’s win over Buffalo Grove

Schaumburg maintained control in the MSL East after its 80-minute comprehensive 3-0 victory Tuesday night at Grant Blaney Stadium over host Buffalo Grove.

The win came courtesy of three first half goals — two from freshman Filip Tabaczynski, and the other by Ronaldo Loiaza-Veliz — who together helped the Saxons move their record to 5-1-1 in league play, 7-4-2 overall.

The three points earned by the Saxons give them 16 with Hoffman Estates next with 12 after its 2-0 win over Barrington.

"We trained in advance to get off to a good start knowing if we did it would force (Buffalo Grove) from sitting back and not being so defensive," said Saxons co-captain Mati Krzanowski.

It was clear from the opening whistle the Saxons would have an abundance of attacking talent on the pitch. The aforementioned Krzanowski was the heartbeat in the engine room, with plenty of help coming from Loiaza-Veliz, Jeremy Garcia, and left outside-back Juan Carlos, who would regularly join the attack, while providing quality service into the Bison end.

"This team shows up ready to train everyday, and our preparation for this game helped us start out on our front foot which led to those two quick goals," said Tabaczynski, who now has six goals on the year.

The opener came in the fifth minute off a lovely ball into the box from Loiaza-Veliz, then it was his turn to add another to the scoreline when an early ball from Tabaczynski would pry open the Bison (1-11-3, 1-3-2) in their own end.

"That's a very good looking team. They move the ball quickly, combine passes really well, and I was impressed that Matt (Meyer, Saxons coach) trained his guys specifically on pulling us out of our defensive posture by scoring early, and often," said Bison coach Darren Llewellyn.

The visitors would enjoy nearly all of the possession in the first half with purpose and pace in its tactical approach to this contest.

Tabaczynski added the third goal on the half hour, this time with help coming from Jeremy Garcia providing a superb curling corner.

Senior Matt Mianowany kept the Saxons shape and organization along the back water tight all night long to help keeper Anthony Say earn the shutout, the fifth of the season for Meyers' club.

"The boys have improved defensively off late, working hard together to get better each time out," said Meyers.

"We're getting close to being healthy as a team, and right now we're just looking to continue to play well, and get ourselves three points each time out."

Next up for the Saxons will be rival Conant this Saturday, while the Bison host Barrington at 5 p.m. Friday.
