Master of the movie gimmick: Learn about William Castle’s cult classic films at St. Charles library

Step right up for a thrilling journey through the outrageous, spine-tingling world of William Castle, the undisputed master of the movie gimmick!

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, film historian Annette Bochenek will present “The Films of William Castle” at 6 p.m. in the Huntley Room at the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.

It will be followed by a special screening of his classic cult favorite “Thirteen Ghosts” at 7 p.m. with free popcorn.

Known for electrifying audiences with vibrating seats, floating skeletons, and fright insurance policies, Castle turned B-movies into unforgettable cinematic spectacles.

Bochenek will explore Castle’s inventive showmanship, his most iconic films — including “House on Haunted Hill,” “The Tingler,” and “13 Ghosts” — and how his over-the-top promotional tactics made him a cult legend.
