Elgin man faces attempted murder charge after stabbing

An Elgin man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing Tuesday, authorities said.

When Elgin police responded to the 300 block of South McLean Boulevard at around 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 23 for a report of an aggravated battery, they found a subject at the scene who was then taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested Brian C. Cooks, 33, of the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive.

Cooks was charged by Kane County state’s attorney’s office with attempted murder as well as three felony charges of aggravated battery, authorities said. He was ordered to be held in jail pending his next court date.
