South Elgin man charged in Lake Zurich attack

A South Elgin man was arrested Tuesday by Lake Zurich police after he attacked a resident there with a firearm, authorities said.

The arrest followed an incident on the 200 block of South Buesching Road where a victim said 41-year-old Michael Ramos struck them in the head with a firearm multiple times, Lake Zurich police reported.

Police caught up with Ramos about a mile away, near West Main Street and Route 22, and arrested him.

Ramos is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault.

Authorities said Ramos was on pretrial release at the time of the attack and violated an order of protection. He is now also facing charges for violating his pretrial release conditions as well.

He had his first appearance court Wednesday and currently is being held at the Lake County jail, according to the jail’s website.
