Man held in custody after leading Aurora, Oak Brook police on two high-speed chases

A Berwyn man is being held in DuPage County jail after leading police from Oak Brook and Aurora on two high-speed chases Wednesday morning.

Armoni Flowers, 21, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding as well as multiple misdemeanors and traffic offenses.

Authorities say Flowers was stopped by police in Aurora around 1:15 a.m. after running two stop signs in a 2001 Toyota Highlander. As the officer approached, Flowers sped away.

The officer returned to his vehicle and gave chase as Flowers reached speeds of about 80 mph, twice the legal limit on northbound Eola Road.

Flowers then got on I-88 eastbound, reaching speeds of approximately 100 mph near the 1-294 overpass after the officer tried to get him to pull over again.

After officers deployed stop sticks, Flowers continued to flee before crashing near 1-290 and 25th Street in Bellwood. Authorities say Flowers then attempted to run, climbing over a fence into a construction yard before he was arrested.

Flowers’ next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 20.
