Teen’s death a wake-up call

When a young man with what should have been his lifetime ahead of him dies as the result of riding an e-bike after dark without a helmet, it should be a wake-up call to parents and municipalities to have and enforce strict laws regarding their use. These bikes ARE NOT toys and should be treated as the potential dangers they can be when used as such. It's up to the adults to make and enforce laws regarding their use as we all should know that the human brain is not fully developed until around 24 years of age and I believe being aware of potential dangers is not given much thought by young people. It is our responsibility as adults to protect our youth and that often includes from themselves. Don't worry about being the “mean” parent when it comes to protecting your kids from their lack of knowledge. Hopefully they will grow up to be parents themselves and will realize what you did was done out of love and concern for their safety.
