Kane County Cougars clinch league championship in 10th inning of Game 5

In the final game of the American Association season, the Kane County Cougars defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries 7-5 in South Dakota to win the Miles Wolff Cup in a deciding Game 5. The Cougars won the series 3-2.

Nine innings wasn’t enough to decide a winner of the Miles Wolff Cup. Marcus Chiu led off the 10th against Ryan Zimmerman with a double into left-center field. Todd Lott then reached on an error and set up runners at second and third. After Armond Upshaw was intentionally walked, the bases were loaded. It brought Claudio Finol, the Finals MVP, to the plate, and he lived up to the title. With one swing of the bat, Finol bashed a ball into the Sioux Falls sky deep over the left-field wall. His go-ahead grand slam gave the Cougars a late 7-4 lead.
