Step out to support Anderson Humane at Walk4Animals

Take a walk for a wonderful cause to help furry friends during Anderson Humane’s 10th annual Walk4Animals & 5K Run.

Set for Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Peg Bond Center, 100 Island Ave. in Batavia, the event kicks off at 8 a.m. with the 5K, followed by the Walk starting at 9 a.m. The walking portion of the event features a leisurely 1.65 mile stroll on the bike path heading south along the Fox River, while the run is a timed 5K heading north on the bike path. Participants will experience a beautiful view of Fabyan Park along the way.

Anderson Humane hopes to raise $150,000 through this year’s Walk4Animals, said Chris Beebe, Senior Director of Engagement.

“The event raises critical funds for Anderson Humane while strengthening community ties,” Beebe said. “Participants walk in honor of beloved pets and wildlife, and local businesses and volunteers join in to show the power of working together to make a difference. Walk4Animals represents how deeply our community values animals and the people who love them.”

Among new activities at the 2025 Walk4Animals is the Ultimate Canine Playground, offering a variety of activities to engage humans and pups alike. The playground includes an agility course, sensory garden, dog friendly water fountains, pup cups and other features. The morning will also include bagels and coffee for human attendees.

“Walk4Animals is a celebration of the bond between people and animals,” Beebe said. “Each year, families, friends and their dogs gather for a day that highlights compassion, unity and care for all living beings.”

Walk4Animals is made possible with the help of generous sponsors that include Gerald Subaru of North Aurora.

“Gerald Auto Group’s Subaru brand has been an amazing partner of Anderson Humane for years,” Beebe said. “Not only do they generously donate funds in support of the pets and wildlife we care for, but each October they also open their North Aurora showroom to host a Subaru Loves Pets adoption event. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11.”

Gerald Subaru of North Aurora is proud to be part of an event that makes such positive impact.

“Walk4Animals is an incredible opportunity for Gerald Subaru of North Aurora to give back to the community,” said Donna Lawler of the Gerald Auto Group. “We are thrilled to support this year’s event and excited to see all the dogs and people enjoying the activities.”
