Greener Good hosts fundraiser Sept. 20 in Arlington Heights
Greener Good, the creative reuse nonprofit run by three generations of women, is hosting its first fundraiser, Reimagine: Art and Craft Auction, from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. The event will take place at the First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights, 1903 E. Euclid Ave.
The heartwarming family trio behind Greener Good — founder Amanda Moller, her mother Beth, and grandmother Evelyn — bring their unique blend of environmental passion and playful energy to everything they do. Visitors to their shop at 843 N. Wilke Road, are often treated to the sight of Evelyn cheerfully hauling heavy donations (especially when someone suggests she shouldn't), while Amanda and Beth engage in good-natured debates over the store's musical soundtrack. Despite their generational differences, they're united by their love for the environment and unwavering belief in supporting their community.
The fundraiser will feature a silent auction of unique, upcycled, and handmade art and craft pieces, showcasing the creativity that makes Greener Good a cross-generational hit. Young TikTok-savvy upcyclers browse alongside seasoned crafters who've been repurposing materials for decades, all finding inspiration under one roof. Auction items include paintings, quilts, handmade jewelry, a vintage sewing machine, and a charming San Franciscan dollhouse, all generously donated by supporters and local makers.
Beyond the auction, attendees can participate in a raffle with prizes including baskets filled with art supplies, handmade items and a special birthday party package at Greener Good. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20, with a bonus ticket for those who RSVP online and purchase $20 worth in advance. The event will also feature a “Craft for a Cause” area, where attendees can learn to craft items that support local nonprofits, including blankets, dresses and port pillows.
“We are so excited to host our first fundraiser and share our mission with the community,” Amanda Moller said. “Our goal is to raise $2,000 to help support our programs, including our creative reuse resale shop, our workshops and camps, and our efforts to provide free supplies to teachers and other nonprofits.”
As a key resource for educators in the area, Greener Good regularly provides free supplies to teachers and encourages store patrons to “round up for teachers,” creating a ripple effect of community support that touches classrooms throughout Arlington Heights.
“There are many quality, handmade items and wonderful raffle prizes thanks to our amazing volunteers and supporters,” Moller said. “Plus, where else can you shop for a good cause while watching joyful volunteers turn trash into treasure with such infectious enthusiasm?”
ReImagine: Art and Craft Auction is free to attend, with complimentary refreshments provided. RSVPs are encouraged to ensure adequate refreshments.
