Aurora Greek Fest celebrating culture and supporting veterans
Aurora Greek Fest is celebrating over 20 years on Sept. 19-21 at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Aurora. The three-day festival has become a beloved tradition in the western suburbs, drawing thousands for authentic food, music, and cultural fellowship.
Guests can enjoy Greek specialties including gyros, souvlaki, spanakopita, Greek chicken and pasta dishes, and traditional pastries, along with live entertainment.
This year’s co-chairs, Frank Demas and Tracey Collins, are both military veterans with a combined 38 years of service. Collins, a retired Army colonel, and Demas, a retired Marine sergeant, are especially proud that a portion of the proceeds will benefit Naperville Responds for Veterans, which assists local veterans with critical home repairs.
“This festival has been part of Aurora’s tradition for over 20 years, bringing people together around food, music, and culture,” Demas said. “As veterans, Tracey and I are honored that this fall’s event will give back to those who served.”
“After 38 years of combined service, we know the sacrifices made,” Collins added. “It is incredibly moving to see our cultural celebration directly support veterans here at home.”
Aurora Greek Fest runs from noon to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at Saint Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 1855 E. Fifth Ave. in Aurora. Admission is free, and all are welcome. For details, visit auroragreekfest.com.
