No injuries reported in two Aurora fires; dog rescued

There were no injuries reported following two unrelated house fires last week in Aurora

The first fire was reported just before 1 p.m. Thursday on the 2400 block of Whitehall Court, according to a press release from the Aurora Fire Department.

Aurora Police Officers arrived on scene first and safely removed a dog from the home. The Aurora Police Department shared video of the rescue in a press release. Once on scene, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.

The home remained habitable, but residents were advised to find temporary accommodations until the scene could be cleaned up.

The second fire occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on Saturday on the 100 block of Westhampton Court. Firefighters arrived on scene to find heavy black smoke coming from the roof of the home. They were able to bring the fire under control in 15 minutes.

The property was deemed uninhabitable due to water damage and overhaul needs.

The causes of the fires are unknown, and they remain under investigation.
