Aurora man faces gun charges

Aurora police confiscated drum-style ammunition magazines and a handgun in an arrest late Tuesday afternoon.

Members of its Special Operations Group stopped a pickup truck on the 100 block of South West Street on a non-moving traffic violation, according to a news release. They say they saw a loaded drum-style magazine on the center console. When they searched the truck, they found two drum-style magazines, containing 45 live rounds; a handgun; and a handgun case containing a 15-round magazine.

Marcos A. Castro-Garcia, 21, of Aurora, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a gang member, possession of ammunition without a firearm owner’s identification card, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without FOID, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon — ammunition immediately accessible.

He was also cited for not wearing a seatbelt.

Castro-Garcia is being prosecuted in Kane County Circuit Court.
