‘Bands, brews and family fun’: Inaugural Meadows Fest this weekend
Rolling Meadows city and park district officials are hosting a new three-day fest this weekend to celebrate the city’s 70th anniversary.
The fest runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12; 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13; and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at Kimball Hill Park, 3286 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows.
City Manager Rob Sabo touted the new event at Tuesday’s city council meeting as a weekend of “bands, brews and family fun.”
The inaugural festival is a “Taste of Rolling Meadows” of sorts, offering food for sale by local eateries and beverages from sports bar Rep’s Place. The fest is free to attend, but outside food and drink is prohibited, organizers say.
Meadows Fest — featuring music, food, drink, games and shopping — kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday.
Friday night is also highlighted by an annual duck race for charity at 7 p.m., baggo tournament, and headlining band Are You Ready for It? A Taylor Experience at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, ’90s band How Rude performs at 6 p.m., followed by classic rock group Hi Infidelity at 8 p.m.
Entertainment Sunday includes country group In The Stix at 4 p.m. and popular local rockers 7th heaven at 6 p.m.
Before the music starts Saturday and Sunday, market vendors will have items for sale, and kids and families can have fun at an inflatable park, playing yard games and making crafts. A fishing derby is planned for Sunday. Bingo will also be held under the Rep’s Place beer tent.
