Report ignored important facts
The Daily Herald’s anti-Trump bias ranges from mild to extreme. A more subtle version appears in the Aug. 31 front-page story, “ ‘Extremely unusual’: Former Illinois National Guard chief on Trump THREAT (emphasis on THREAT) to dispatch troops to Chicago.”
In that story, David Harris, current state Department of Revenue director, offers his lengthy opinion against the Trump THREAT, but there is no real counterpoint: the reason for this initiative, which is escalating urban crime and unsafe neighborhoods. Harris’ opinion is the main focus here.
Then, in the middle of the story, Harris actual says, “They went to LA because President Trump didn’t like peaceful protests.” Peaceful protests? Is he referring to the arson and rioting in Los Angeles that was televised nationally? Protesters breaking down concrete and throwing chunks at law enforcement officers? Harris kind of blows away his credibility away right there.
