Part of Route 14 in Barrington closed beginning Sept. 15

A stretch of Route 14 through Barrington will be fully closed beginning Monday, Sept. 15, as part of ongoing work to build an underpass at the Canadian National Railway tracks.

The closure from just north of Valencia Road to Hough Street is expected to last about four weeks. During that time, CN will install temporary railroad tracks across Route 14 and shift train traffic onto those tracks.

Once train traffic is shifted, a temporary roadway can be completed across the existing track.

During the closure, a signed detour will be in place via Lake-Cook Road and Hough Street. Drivers are asked to allow for extra travel time and plan accordingly.
