Open house at Des Plaines fire station on Sept. 20

Learn how firefighters do their jobs when the Des Plaines Fire Department holds an open house on Sept. 20.

The family-friendly event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Station No. 63, which is at 130 E. Thacker St.

Attendees can check out emergency vehicles, watch live demonstrations and get safety tips. An obstacle course for kids and other activities are planned, too.
