Dogs jump on Cougars in first inning, even series
The Chicago Dogs scored five runs with two outs in the first inning and held off the Kane County Cougars the rest of the way to get a 5-3 win Tuesday night at Northwestern Medicine Field.
After Cougars starter Jack Fox retired the first two batters, Jacob Teter hit a solo homer to give Chicago the lead. That was followed up by back-to-back singles by T.J. Hopkins and Chance Sisco. Dusty Stroup base hit scored Hopkins to make it 2-0. Tripp Clark followed with a three-run homer to put the Dogs up 5-0.
Josh Allen hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to make it 5-3, but neither team could get another run across the plate the rest of the game.
Game 3 of the East Division Championship is on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Impact Field in Rosemont. Games 4 and 5, if necessary, will also be played at Impact Field.
