Authorities: Man faces multiple charges after fleeing from deputies
A Wisconsin man fleeing from authorities, who believed he was holding a woman against her will, faces several charges after being caught in Lake County early Monday, authorities said.
Shortly after 1 a.m., Lake County emergency dispatchers received a request for help from Racine, Wisconsin police regarding a fleeing vehicle that had crossed into Illinois on Route 45.
The driver, Aaron J. Kirksey, 30, fled after a domestic-related dispute with a woman who Wisconsin authorities believed was being held against her will.
His vehicle was located near Route 41 and Wadsworth Road, but ran a red light and fled the area at speeds exceeding 100 mph, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office.
Dispatchers working with OnStar were able to have the vehicle slowed and it was located on Stearns School Road west of Route 41. Kirksey fled on foot. An adult woman rescued from the passenger seat was uninjured.
Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher Sinceno and canine officer Simba found Kirksey hiding under some bushes in a wooded area nearby, authorities said.
Kirksey is charged with aggravated fleeing to elude, aggravated speeding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and numerous traffic violations, according to the sheriff’s office.
Wisconsin authorities are investigating potential criminal charges there as well. Kirksey was held in the Lake County jail pending a court hearing Monday morning.
