FamilyForward’s Giving Hope aims to raise $100K to help struggling families
On Sunday, Sept. 28, local nonprofit FamilyForward will host its annual premier fundraiser, “Giving Hope.”
This year’s theme, “Giving Hope: Home for the Harvest,” is an invitation to gather in the spirit of harvest abundance to help local families. The entire community is invited to participate in this important event to support FamilyForward’s work to assist and empower low-income families across the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
It will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at Cotillion Banquets, 360 S. Creekside Drive in Palatine. In addition to hearty appetizers (with vegetarian options) and gourmet desserts, a cash bar, and exciting bluegrass music by The Bourbon Aristocracy, the event will feature a variety of fun and inspirational activities including a silent auction and raffles, as well as a live appeal to raise funds for families. Attire for this event is business casual.
One program highlight will be the opportunity to hear from a family whose lives were changed by participating in the two-year targeted, intensive program at FamilyForward.
This year’s goal is to raise at least $100,000 to help client families as they continue to grapple with the ever-rising costs of rental housing and other inflationary expenses, all while working to provide a safe and secure environment for their children.
In the spirit of harvest sharing at this event, FamilyForward also invites attendees to bring along donations of nonperishable food items for Faith Feeds Food Pantry, based in Palatine. Faith Feeds is an important community resource for local families facing food insecurity, a problem closely related to the housing insecurity faced by families in the FamilyForward program.
“Giving Hope: Home for the Harvest will be an exciting afternoon of fundraising and fun for a wonderful cause,” said Beverly Worthington, executive director. “At FamilyForward, our mission is to equip parents with the skills and confidence they need to manage their finances, maintain stable housing, navigate challenges and achieve long-term financial and family independence. We do this through rental support and other financial assistance, as well as focused, personalized, one-on-on guidance from volunteer mentors.”
Registration is $95 per person. Visit family-forward.org/giving-hope for more details and to register by Sept. 19. Sponsorships and donations of silent-auction and raffle items are also welcome, through September 5. Based in Arlington Heights, FamilyForward is grateful for the support and partnership of the community.
