Police officer injured, house left uninhabitable after Mundelein fire

A police officer suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation at a house fire early Tuesday morning that left a Mundelein home uninhabitable.

No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters were called to the two-story, single-family home on the 500 block of Shady Lane just before 3:20 a.m.

A fire was located in the rear of the home. It took nearly 40 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

No damage estimate was available and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
