Aurora teen charged with attempted robbery, battery
A 17-year-old Aurora boy is facing charges after police say he assaulted a 70-year-old man while trying to rob him on Aug. 28, officials said.
According to a news release from Aurora police, the 70-year-old man told police the teen demanded money from him around 11:15 p.m. on the 200 block of West Galena Boulevard. The teen then struck him about the face and head, even after he was on the ground. The man was finally able to get away and call police; he was then taken to Mercy Medical Center where he was treated for a broken eye socket.
Officers used the man’s description of the teenager and his location to find him, and they captured the boy after a short foot pursuit. He is charged with aggravated battery, resisting a peace officer, attempted robbery and aggravated battery to a person over 60.
The teen currently is being held at the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center.
