The chromosome test for fighting crime
Given all of the recent attention President Donald Trump has placed on violent crime, I decided to do some independent research on the topic. Having consulted several very reliable sources, I have made a startling discovery.
The overwhelming number of violent crimes in this country are committed by individuals having both an X and a Y chromosome. Additionally, looking at a subset of this group, those between the ages of 17 and 55, the percentage is even higher.
Given the clear predisposition to violence of these individuals, the answer to the problem of serious crime in America is obvious. For the sake of society, all those between the ages of 17 and 55 who have the Y chromosome should be detained or sent far away from those of us who do not have this congenital flaw.
Thanks to our president, we already have sufficient detention centers to contain a large portion of this violence prone population. And Congress has wisely given him the purse strings to allow him to build even more.
I understand that, since many who meet this criteria for incarceration have not yet been convicted of a crime, there might be that bothersome due process clause to stand in the way of my proposal. But since the courts have already granted the administration the right to dismiss this concern for some classifications of people, it should not be all that difficult to apply the same reasoning to this demonstrably dangerous group.
I look forward to the implementation of this rational approach to crime so that the rest of us can live in a country without violence. God bless America.
