Cougars hammered by RailCats
The Gary SouthShore RailCats beat the Kane County Cougars 14-2 Wednesday night at Northwestern Medicine Field.
Trailing 3-0, the Cougars (45-50) scored in the bottom of the fourth when Blake Rutherford hit a solo home run.
The RailCats built a 7-1 lead in the fifth. In the bottom of the sixth, Kane County started the inning with back-to-back base hits from Zane Spinn and Marcus Chiu to set up runners at the corners. Todd Lott’s run-scoring force out made the score 7-2.
The RailCats added 7 runs in the eighth.
